Staines Ward - Sunday

Sunday, January 23:  We took the express train from Paddington Station to Heathrow and then a shuttle bus from Heathrow to the Sheraton Hotel where we picked up our rental car.  They charged us an extra 9 pounds a day because Wayne is over 70 and wouldn’t sell us car insurance.  The car is a 4 wheel drive SUV.  So far, no snow, sleet, ice.  Lots of sunshine, but cold.  We attended Sacrament Meeting at the Staines Ward.  It is a half size building.  The basketball court is a half court, the chapel small and we didn’t see the rest of it.  It was a wonderful meeting.  We enjoyed the speakers with one exception.  The priests were having trouble with the cloth covering the sacrament.  It kept slipping sideways.  When they uncovered the bread trays, it fell off onto the floor completely.  One of the priests jumped down to get it and said, “Oh shit!”  I don’t think very many people heard him, but it was certainly incongruous with what he was doing.  Lesson:  If the words are in your brain, they will come out of your mouth.  When we got to the car after the meeting, I laughed myself silly.
