Harrods

We got back on the Big Bus and got off at Harrods.  The Tower of London and Harrods are at opposite ends of the tour.  I had visions of shopping there for souvenirs, but learned quickly it is the most expensive store in the whole world.  It is a department store with 700 departments.  There are 1700 employees.  We wandered all over the store and looked at food, china, crystal, cooking , electronics, candy and cake.  Clothes were designer clothes with no price tags.  The food was interesting.  You could buy almost anything from anywhere in the world.  We found some chocolates on sale.  It was all we could afford.  Wayne says Harrods is indescribable.  “I have never been any place where a desk was for sale for 70,000 pounds ($150,000).  What we saw, for the most part, was stuff we could get at home for at least half the price.  There are not many dresses hanging on the rack and none of them have price tags.  The escalator is their Egyptian escalator.  It is the fanciest most dressed up escalator we've ever seen.  Day is over - two things in one day is about all we can do.
