near Edinburgh

It was getting dark and we drove past this lovely old manor house, the Craigiebield House.  We were in Penicuik.  We went to Penicuik because we had heard that there was the Penicuik Crystal Factory there.  You could take a tour and see how crystal is made and they had a store where you can buy seconds for practically nothing.  NUVI took us to the address and then stopped.  We didn’t see it, so as we were driving around, we programmed her again.  She took us to the same place and then stopped.  After half an hour of looking, we found a man and he said that the crystal factory had been closed and moved away for over 3 years.  We were disappointed and since it was late, we had to find a place to stay fast.  The Craigiebield House was over our budget, but the owner decided to give us a room for half price because it was getting late and he wanted to fill the room.  Our money was better than no money.  We lucked out.  It was lovely, warm and comfortable.  We enjoyed talking with the owners, a brother and sister who had acquired the place last September.  They both worked in London and were glad to get back to Scotland.
